BREAKING: BUDGET FAILS CHARLESTOWN

19 June 2018

Member for Charlestown, Jodie Harrison has expressed her anger that the Government has again failed to provide funding in todays Budget for road upgrades that are recommended in the draft Lake Macquarie Transport Study.

Ms Harrison told a meeting of Hillsborough residents on June 2 that the draft Lake Macquarie Transport Study had identified the Hillsborough Rd and Chadwick St intersection as a short term priority for traffic signals.

I am outraged that this Government has again shown its contempt for the people of Charlestown by refusing to allocate the necessary funding to implement recommendations in its own study, Ms Harrison said.

The Liberal / National Government clearly has the wrong priorities to them its more important to put $2.2billion into a stadium splurge in Sydney than to fix traffic bottlenecks and provide the safe roads which residents have been calling for years.

For four years I have been calling for the Government to release this study. I finally had to obtain a copy under the Government Information Public Access (GIPA) Act.
