JODIE HARRISON CALLS ON THE GOVERNMENT TO FUND RECOMMENDATIONS TO FIX HILLSBOROUGH ROAD

Member for Charlestown, Jodie Harrison today gave a Notice of Motion calling on the Government to provide funding in the upcoming Budget for road upgrades recommended in the Lake Macquarie Transport Study.

Ms Harrisons motion noted that:

on Saturday 2nd of June, members of the Hillsborough community held a meeting to discuss accessibility to their suburb;
of greatest concern to residents was the entrances to Hillsborough via Chadwick St and Higham Rd;
Acknowledges that the Lake Macquarie Transport Study is soon to be released to the public; and
Calls on the Government to include funding for road upgrades recommended in the study in the upcoming 2018-19 budget.

Ms Harrison has obtained a copy of the draft Lake Macquarie Transport Study under the Government Information Public Access (GIPA) Act.

I was pleased to be able to tell the people of Hillsborough at the meeting on Saturday that the intersection of Hillsborough Rd and Chadwick St was a short term priority to be upgraded to a signalised intersection, Ms Harrison said.

The other short term priority is to upgrade the Hillsborough and Macquarie Rd roundabout to traffic signals.

After four years demanding that the Government fix Hillsborough Rd, we finally have some solutions.

The Government now needs to put money where their mouth is and provide funding in the budget on 19 June.
