LANDCARE GRANTS FOR LITTLE ONES

Applications are now open for Junior Landcare Grants!

All Primary Schools and Early Learning Centres are are encouraged to apply for project funds of up to $1000.

Over 500 grants are on offer to inspire little ones to get hands-on with projects that focus on sustainable food production, improving waste management practices or enhancing native habitats.

These grants can be used for:

- a habitat restoration project

- planting bush tucker

- planting a vegetable garden

- running a composting or recycling project

Current Junior Landcare projects in the Charlestown electorate include:

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School - Kitchen Garden

'Our garden project will provide more opportunities for students to plant, maintain and harvest edible crops.'

New Lambton South Public School - Fragrant Native Garden

'Our project aims to establisha new environment where students can observe and study indigenous plants.'

Little Beginnings Warners Bay -Bush Tucker Garden

'Our project is to create a bush tucker garden and a cultural meeting place to help further embed Aboriginal culture and practices into our centre.'

Here is how to apply:

1. Read the Guidelines and Criteria to see if your prject idea fits

2. Log into the Landcare Australia Communities Portal. If you haven't applied for a Junior Landcare Grant before, click to sign-up (register)

3. Once you're in the portal, click on Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants and 'Create Application'. You can save it along the way and log back in to finish it later

Applications close on Friday, 6 September at 5pm
