Award nomination for Koori Netball Tournament

21 June 2023

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault) (16:20): For over two decades, the Koori Netball Tournament has been hosted at the Charlestown netball complex in Bula Street, Charlestown. Now the biggest celebration of Koori netball in New South Wales has been named a finalist in the Inclusive Achievement of the Year category at the 2023 Sports Foyer NSW Community Sports Awards.

I attended the 2022 tournament, which brought together more than 1,500 Aboriginal netballers from around the State.

I saw First Nations women and their supporters sharing their love of the sport and celebrating their talent in a fun, inclusive environment. Congratulations to all those involved in organising the event, to all the players who attended and to Charlestown Netball for hosting the event.

This recognition is very well deserved, and I wish them all the best for the awards. I look forward to future Koori netball tournaments.
