Early Learning Matters Week

20 October 2022

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown) (09:50): Our early childhood education and care workers are so important to our community and our economy. Every year we mark Early Learning Matters Week to acknowledge their hard work and commitment.

On Monday this week I was honoured to be invited to the wonderful Felton Street Community Preschool in Gateshead to help celebrate this year. I appreciated the opportunity to see how Felton Street preschool is using high-quality early education to support children in becoming confident and enthusiastic learners.

Through play-based learning, Felton Street preschool—and so many other early childhood education and care professionals across the Charlestown electorate—are building a foundation for our youngest citizens, which will set them up for lifelong wellbeing and achievement.

My thanks to Karen, Felton Street preschool's director, and her fantastic team: co-director Kirsty, Michelle, Karen, Dawn, Jessica, Jasmin and Robyn. I also thank their colleagues working in other centres across the Charlestown electorate and around New South Wales. I cannot thank you enough for all you do.

A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
