Sixty years of Whitebridge High

17 October 2023

Ms JODIE HARRISON (Charlestown—Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)— As locals had their say in the referendum at Whitebridge High on Saturday 14 October, the school hosted a Community Market Day to celebrate sixty years of educating the community.

The Community Market Day welcomed Charlestown Electorate residents to reminisce, with memorabilia from the past and photo displays were set up to show how the school has evolved since it was opened in 1963.

The coffee started flowing at 8am as early-bird voters and interested locals first began to arrive, with BBQ bacon and egg rolls, sausage sandwiches and cold drinks also available.

The well-loved WHS food truck was also there, serving hot drinks and homemade slices. Whitebridge High is a great local school, which has given so much to the community over the last sixty years and I'm glad they were able to celebrate this important anniversary with the community.

My thanks to Whitebridge High principal Nadene Harvey and her team for putting on a fantastic anniversary. Here's to the staff, students and community of Whitebridge High, past, present and future, and to many more years of educating the local community!

A Community Recognition Notice is an opportunity for an MP to submit a short statement praising the work of an individual or group in the local community. If you have any ideas about people I can recognise with a Community Recognition Notice, please email and let me know!
